Eastern Iowa REC is committed to enhancing the communities we serve.  Through our community engagement efforts, we strive to not only provide safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to our members, we also work to better the communities our members belong to.

Eastern Iowa REC follows the 7th Cooperative Principle “Concern for Communities” by supporting local economic development, scholarships, youth programs, donations to support local causes and projects, and community outreach programs.

Scholarships are available

Each year Eastern Iowa REC awards 26 $2,500 college scholarships. Scholarship information and application materials are available after January 1 each year.

Youth Tour

Each year an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. is awarded to a high school student as part of the NRECA Youth Tour program. Details and application materials are available after January 1 each year.

Consider offering a helping hand to those who need it

The RECare program is funded by contributions from Iowa electric cooperative members to help others pay winter heating bills and to assist with weatherization projects for low-income families.  The program is administered by local community action agencies.  Cooperative members can make one-time pledges or monthly pledges collected from each energy bill.
